New York City-based artist Doris Vila creates holograms and light-based installations. She served as a holography instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1986-1988. Born in Miami, she is of Cuban heritage. She studied at University of California, Berkeley, and Hunter College in New York City. She has also studied at the Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico and the New York Holographic Laboratory. She served as an artist in residence at many institutions, including the MIT Regional Laser Center in 1983, and at the Museum of Holography in 1983 and 1986.
