Ruza Erceg

(American, born 1898, died 1993)

Artist Ruza Erceg (1898-1993) was born in Yugoslavia and immigrated to the United States in 1922. After settling in Oregon and raising nine children, Erceg began painting colorful rural scenes in 1961 based on remembrances of her homeland. She was a self-taught artist who continually experimented and expanded upon her technique, and painted into her nineties.
