(American | Seneca Nation, born 1943, died 2025)
Native American artist Carol Snow (Seneca, 1943-2025) creates paintings, prints, and mixed media artworks that explore animal symbolism. In her own words, "The animal spirits have many lessons to teach us. I know that I am guided by the spirits of the animals that I paint; it is their message that you read."
Carol Snow grew up on the Alleghany reservation in New York State. She earned a bachelor's degree in zoology from Syracuse University and a master's degree in zoology and physiology from the University of Wyoming. During that time, she was a falconer and raised coyotes to study. Later she worked with a wild horse sanctuary.
