This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tahoma School District.

About the Artist

Seattle-based artist Marsha Burns creates photographic portraits and figure studies that explore the relationship between form and identity.
Burns began as a painter, studying at the University of Washington (1963-65) and the University of Massachusetts (1967-69). She began to work with photography in 1972. Burns’ photographs are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Seattle Art Museum, the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona in Tucson, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and more.
