About the Artwork
The Sky is Falling was taken by photographer Neil McWee along the Skykomish River on a late fall afternoon in 1991. McWee notes that over the years the river has been subject to heavy flooding due to extensive logging in the area, which has altered the shoreline. As such, the artist notes that this and many of photographs "have become documents or testaments of what was, prior to the ecological damage cause by poor use of our wilderness resources."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bethel School District.
