Seated Figures, 1983
Peter Juvonen
American Finnish (born 1951)
Location: Office of the Washington State Auditor, Olympia
About the Artwork
Artist Peter Juvonen created Seated Figures as part of a series of artworks about the human figure. He states that these works examine how the figure is “transformed by the effects of light and tension.” Juvonen began this artwork by creating a monotype print. He painted an image onto a printing plate, which he pressed onto his paper. Only one print can be made from the plate. He then added colors and forms using colored pencils, acrylic paint, and graphite.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Office of the Washington State Auditor.
