About the Artwork
Spokane, Washington-based artist Gay Waldman's photograph Amber Sunset features dramatic dark and light elements. A fantastic orange sky looms above the dark outline of a forest. Waldman describes her artworks as "journeys of photographic possibilities... The sky is forever changing and to capture the color and character of the horizon can be exhilarating. I'm continually looking for brilliant color contrasts." She digitally enhances her photos "adding [her] interpretation of the moment."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Military Department.
