About the Artwork

This painting was created for Tenino Elementary School in Western Washington. It shows the Tenino quarry and pool covered in lush vegetation. Historically, the pool was a working sandstone quarry established in the late 1800s. The quarry ended operations in the 1920s and filled with springwater to create a natural reservoir. It now functions as a popular swimming spot, open to the public in the summer months.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tenino School District.
