About the Artwork
Artist Louise Williams painted Levitating the Landscape, A Flight of Fantasy to express youthful joy and hope. The imagery is based on a small drawing by the artist's granddaughter. Describing the symbolic resonance of this piece, Williams notes, "I know that all at once the girl is a self-portrait of the artist with a world sprouting out of her head, and a reflection of the age's many concerns with our place in nature."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Northshore School District.
