About the Artist
Artist Terry Toedtemeier (1947-2008) was an influential photographer, curator, and historian based in Oregon. He co-founded the Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts in Portland in 1975 (which later became Blue Sky Gallery), and he became the curator of photography for the Portland Art Museum in 1985. His artistic practice was influenced by his undergraduate studies in geology at Oregon State University, and much of his art explored the formal resonance of rock formations and the Northwest landscape.
