The Real Paris, 1993
Robert Haft
American (born 1949)
Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Olympia
About the Artwork
The Real Paris was captured by artist Robert Haft as part of a series of diptych photographs taken while the artist was teaching in France. Haft notes "I tried to make photographs that captured the feelings that one often has while traveling in a foreign country...Thus I began printing two pictures side-by-side. Seen together as one image, they present the viewer with a sort of visual puzzle; trying to solve that puzzle is like being in a foreign culture."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
