Dixie Dancing, 1983

Susan MacLeod
American (born 1948, died 2017)

Location: Green Hill School, Chehalis

About the Artwork

Artist Susan MacLeod created the fun and playful sculptural painting Dixie Dancing. The same figure repeated in different poses makes up the composition. This creates a dynamic visual representation of movement and dancing. She sewed the figures between layers of plastic and stuffed them with batting to make the artwork three-dimensional.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
