Untitled #6, 1998
Ron Hinson
American (born 1934, died 2019)
Location: Tacoma Community College, Tacoma
About the Artwork
Untitled #6 is an example of artist Ron Hinson's three-dimensional paintings that explore color relationships, texture, surface, and form. He termed this style "nonobjective," emphasizing a harmonious sense of movement without recognizable images. Hinson also focused on "the shapes of the areas between the shapes, usually referred to as negative shapes." There is a rythmic movement from left to right. Colors are close in value and hue to create a harmony and emphasize the silhouette of the shapes.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma Community College.
