About the Artwork

Artist Sherry Markovitz printed Tiger Chase using four hand-drawn plates and six different colors. The vibrant and dramatic composition highlights a sense of movement and energy. She created this print as part of a suite of six artworks made by three Seattle artists at Coburn Press in Seattle. The other artists who made prints for this suite are Peter Millett and Norie Sato.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.

About the Artist

Celebrated Seattle artist Sherry Markovitz is best known for her elaborately detailed papier mâché and beaded sculpture, which often depict dolls or animal head trophies and investigate the symbolism of identity.
Markovitz received the 2019 Twining Humber Award for lifetime artistic achievement.
