Kite Piece, 1982

Gerard Albanese
American (born 1942)

Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Olympia

About the Artwork

Kite Piece is part of photographer Gerard Albanese's series titled 'Foto-Fantasy Foldouts.' These works explore constructed forms and conceptual themes. After encountering a young boy playing with a toy glider, Albanese combined several images into the form of a kite. He notes, "The strength of the work is not to be found in the individual photograph, but in the way these simple photographs are used collectively to form a 'piece.'"

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
