Hey, Diddle Diddle is part of artist Peggy Gruen's body of vibrantly colored photographs that combine imagery of natural objects with digitally manipulated backgrounds. This artwork references the Mother Goose nursery rhyme:

"Hey, diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Auburn School District.

Photographer Peggy Gruen creates images that are digitally manipulated and saturated, featuring vibrantly colored flowers, leaves, and other natural objects. She lived in Spokane, Eastern Washington during the 1980s and early 1990s.
