About the Artwork
Untitled #5 is part of artist Valdis Zarins' series of embossed, aluminum lithography plates. The series look at how simple lines and angles create and define space and depth on a reflective surface. He noted, "The raised embossed lines are capable under appropriate lighting conditions of capturing the source of light(s) as a luminous 'aura' that moves along the embossed ridge as the viewer moves across the picture plane left to right, etc."
