Duck Down, 1988

Kathryn Glowen
American (born 1941)

Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Olympia

About the Artwork

Artist Kathryn Glowen created the mixed-media sculpture Duck Down for an exhibition at Skagit Valley College in 1988. She used recycled objects to create this whimsical piece. She notes, "The title is a play on words, as in a duck landing, ducking for cover, or duck feathers… The shape and form of the sculpture suggests a figure—a globe for a head, with a hat and a wooden duck above. It is playful and humorous."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
