About the Artwork
Skunk Cabbage Patch is a color negative print of an image captured by photographer Deborah Giannini at her home in Monroe, Northwestern Washington. Giannini notes: "I wanted the print to have a fantasty, dreamy quality; be beautiful, but retain an element of mystery." With this body of work Giannini sought to push the boundaries of nature photography and to break out of the documentation of ordinary scenes by creating something original and experimental.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Natural Resources.
