About the Artwork

School of Fish is a photogram by artist Spike Mafford. He notes, “This work is intended to bring pleasure to those who view it through the use of color and composition.” He made the image without using a camera. Instead, he placed colorful toy fish directly onto photo-sensitive paper. He then used a bright light above the toys to expose the paper below.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Columbia School District.
