About the Artwork
The Politician is a surreal painted collage created by artist Bill Whipple. The composition features two figures joined together by a single collar and tie. A TV and pyramid replace the head of the figures, surrounded by symbols. He notes, "The Politician is about the tendency of those in public office, or running for public office, to address a number of issues, and to try to accommodate opposing views on those issues. The result can be insincerity and uncertainty."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pierce College District.
