About the Artwork
Great Leap Forward is a colorful and active installation created by artist Christine Bourdette. It greets students as they walk up the stairs or head to their lockers in the commons area. It is comprised of many figures suspended from the ceiling and the wall. You see them in motion, as if they are leaping, jumping, and running to accomplish their goals.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kettle Falls School District.
About the Artist
Portland, Oregon-based artist Christine Bourdette balances studio and public art practices. Her drawings and sculptures explore materials and forms. Her installations for public spaces take inspiration from and interact with their environment. Bourdette earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
