'Stick and Stones: River of Change' is an enamel mosaic mural created by artist Ken Spiering for Frontier Middle School. Three hundred uniquely shaped enamel tiles comprise the mural. The imagery of a river flowing over rocks symbolizes change, movement, and learning.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.

Eastern Washington-based artist Ken Spiering creates artworks in many different media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Many of his works have been created for public spaces, with a focus on natural imagery rich with metaphor.
