About the Artwork
Terrestrial Sanctuary is a suspended sculptural installation created by artist Liz Mapelli. The colorful and layered aluminum forms reference leaves and flowers, suggesting a fantastical garden canopy. She based the forms on plant specimens she collected on the Edmonds Community College campus. Mapelli hopes the work "invites a thoughtful, lingering, and light-hearted experience."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
