About the Artwork
The Most Basic 4 is a drawing by artist Carolyn Law. It is part of a group of works based on photographs that she manipulated to remove all imagery except arms. The compositions highlight different gestures and postures of the arms. She has experimented with transferring the photo images onto different materials and at different scales. She notes, "My intention in this drawing was to present a very simple relationship of arms to an image of growth."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lower Columbia College.
