About the Artwork

Inner City is a quilt by artist Suzi Hokonson. The composition features a six-sided hexagon-split shape, which the artist notes is one of the earliest designs in quilt history. The patterned fabrics in the center are vintage, and date back to the 1950s.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Health.

About the Artist

Suzi Hokonson is a Spokane, Eastern Washington-based textile artist who creates quilts that explore color relationships and geometric forms.
Hokonson is a graduate of Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington. She is a quilt historian, teacher, and lecturer.
