About the Artwork
Artist Eva Isaksen based her composition of Moonlit II around the metaphor of the garden. It includes concepts of growth, birth and rebirth. The artwork is a monotype print, which Isaksen describes as "a hybrid between painting and printmaking." Monotypes are unique prints created by painting with inks directly onto the printing plate. Only one print can be made from the plate. The image is transferred onto paper using a printing press. This monotype was printed and layered ten times to produce the richly saturated colors.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kent School District.
