About the Artwork
Artist John Roloff created Wrangellia I and 'Wrangellia II' as extensions of an environmental project he began in 1980 that combined and incorporated many different influences and elements. The resulting large-scale sculptural furnaces were installed into the landscape and ignited, transforming the materials and interacting with its surrounding environment. These drawings depict variations and proposed elements for the construction of the works.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with University of Washington.
