In 'Shi-Shi Beach, Washington Coast' photographer David Grant Best captures a surreal and mysterious moment in time. Silhouetting the rock stacks and tide pools so that they float in front of a sky that is both sunny and foggy, the artist contemplates the play of light and form of the picturesque Olympic area beach.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Riverview School District.

About the Artist

Northwest photographer David Grant Best composes images of the natural environment and rural communities. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Washington in 1972.
