About the Artwork
The Bend was taken by photographer Spike Mafford at a farmhouse in the Methow Valley of northern Washington. The title refers both to the bend of the Twisp River visible in the image, and to a method of twisting the camera to bring into focus only certain parts of the composition.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Naches Valley School District.
