Nooksack Middle Fork, 2015

About the Artwork
Artist Claude Zervas created the four-part video installation Nooksack Middle Fork as an exploration of circularity. It was also inspired by the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who stated "everything flows". The Nooksack River is located in the North Cascades mountains in Washington. Zervas notes that the Nooksack River "cuts through dense forest scarred by intensive logging, its water is diverted for cities to drink, and the glacier of its birth is slowly disappearing." This artwork comments on the relationship between man and nature.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Western Washington University.
