About the Artwork

Patty Sgrecci's Prairie Song hanging installation celebrates the landscape and wildlife that surround Prairie View Elementary in Spokane, Northeastern Washington. The artwork features small birds, grasses, marmots, and more. Sgrecci was also inspired by the words of William Wordsworth, "Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Mead School District.

About the Artist

Vermont-based artist Patty Sgrecci creates kinetic mobiles. These colorful sculptures combine a variety of materials. They highlight the relationship between form, light, balance, and motion.
Sgrecci received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University. She previously lived in Sequim, Washington.
