About the Artwork
Artist Carl Rowe painted Rockies Autumn as an examination of contrast. He describes the composition as a dialogue between mountains and trees, foreground and background, warm and cold colors. He notes, "Autumn is a time of contrasts, especially temperature and color, and evokes in me a melancholy feeling at the loss of summer's heat and ease as well as a stimulation and awe at the utter transformation of color in the foliage. That is what I am trying to evoke with this painting."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Northshore School District.
