About the Artwork
Artist J. Elizabeth Santone created the figurative watercolor Library based on her childhood memories going to the local library with her mother. The composition is filled with many figures and hidden details. She notes, “She would drop me off in the kids section on the first floor while she browsed in the adult section. The library was all golden maple. It glowed even on cold rainy days.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Spokane Public Schools.
