Sheet Music, 2000

American (born 1950)
Location: Medical Lake High School, Medical Lake
About the Artwork
Artist George Radebaugh created the whimsical sculpture Sheet Music using CDs (compact discs) and their plastic cases. It is part of his series of CD sculptures showing “that beautiful work can be made with everyday materials.” The artist often takes breaks to play the piano while he is working on a sculpture. He notes, “Many of the shapes in the piece are reminiscent of notation and the use of repeated simple forms is very music like. Compact discs themselves are often used as a modern method of music recording taking over some uses of music notation.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Medical Lake School District.
