About the Artwork
Non-Native artist Barry Herem created a stylized eagle sculpture for Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale, on the Kitsap Peninsula in southern Puget Sound. The artwork celebrates the area's eagles that can be seen above the Kitsap Peninsula year-round. Herem was also partly inspired by a personal trip to Southeast Alaska and that area's art and cultural history.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Kitsap School District.
