Curiosity is a beaded sculpture by artist Sherry Markovitz. It depicts the ornately patterned head of a female fawn. Markovitz' work symbolically investigates life and death, craft, and gender.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.

About the Artist

Celebrated Seattle artist Sherry Markovitz is best known for her elaborately detailed papier mâché and beaded sculpture, which often depict dolls or animal head trophies and investigate the symbolism of identity.
Markovitz received the 2019 Twining Humber Award for lifetime artistic achievement.
