ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Selene Santucci created the richly layered abstract painting Precarious Position as a formal exploration into how space, shape, line, and composition are organized in the depiction of vessels or bowls. She notes that her works is "a reflection of daydreaming and an inner attention to shape and color."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Clark College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist Selene Santucci lives and works in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington. Her paintings combine abstract elements with imaginative forms and vibrant colors.
Santucci received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Sciences degrees from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. She went on to earn her Master in Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in 1983. She taught in the Washington State University art department from 1986 to 1998.
