About the Artwork
Artist Philip Lewis created Song Birds #2 to translate music and sound into something visual using abstract line, color, and pattern. Lewis has a background in dance and was a professional dancer before becoming a visual artist.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Peninsula School District.
About the Artist
Seattle-based artist Phillip Lewis creates artworks that investigate and translate movement from the physical to the visual. He trained in classical ballet, modern and jazz dance and was a professional dancer before becoming a visual artist.
Born in Lansing, Michigan, Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1971. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington, Seattle in 1984.
