About the Artwork
Artist Onajide Shabaka created Afro-Indian Spirit Dance by combining superimposed, solarized photographs, overlayed by acrylic paint. The resulting dream-like composition juxtaposes references to African and Cherokee myths, and pays homage to those cultures.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Shoreline School District.

He has studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, Pacific Fashion Institute in San Francisco, and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.
