About the Artwork
Artist Susan Brandeis' elaborate textile construction Sunspot is part of a series exploring the light and texture of the forest floor. It was created by sewing together and assembling screen printed fabrics and flexible materials. The artist describes this piece as representing "the brilliant play of light on the ground when trees sway on a breezy day, or the shine of wet leaves and pine needles on a dewy morning."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Yakima School District.
