About the Artwork
Migrations is a sculptural installation created by artist Patricia Ravarra. The piece is comprised of twenty woven elements, created using dyed fishing wire which traps and refracts light. Ravarra notes "what specifically interests me is how colors interact and how color is transformed by light."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Mukilteo School District.
About the Artist
Artist Patricia Ravarra creates textile sculptures that explore the interaction of color, texture, and light.Ravarra earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree (1971) in fine art and a Master of Arts degree (1979) in textile arts from San Francisco State University. She was awarded a Fulbright grant in 1977 for advanced tapestry design to study with Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz. She is based in San Francisco, California.
