About the Artwork
Artist Alice Van Leunen created Mingei Crazy Quilt as part of a series of woven paper sculptures based on traditional fabric quilts. This artwork is comprised of hand-printed Japanese Chiyogami paper. It is inspired by the folding patterns of Japanese origami and composed to resemble an American "Crazy Quilt," celebrating both cultures' influence on folk arts as it blends different craft traditions.
