About the Artwork
Avalanche Lilies are a series of five large-scale stainless steel sculptures created by artist James Pridgeon. They celebrate what are among the first flowers to bloom on Mount Rainier each year. The artist notes that flowers "enrich our lives and help express our deepest feelings...each is unique, resilient, and exceptionally beautiful."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Puyallup School District.
About the Artist
Jim Pridgeon is a Seattle-based artist and neuroscientist. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. He received a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of Minnesota. He serves as a Teaching Associate at the University Of Washington Department Of Neurological Surgery.
