American (born 1947)

Location: Washington State University - Spokane, Spokane

About the Artwork

Patrick Zentz created Riverpoint Observatory for Washington State University. His design reflects the campus' natural setting. In appreciation of the massive deposits of columnar basalt in the Inland Northwest, the sculpture's base consists of cast hexagonal concrete columns. A steel and glass roof is etched with Mount Spokane's topography and atmospheric information. The roof creates a protective arbor.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State University.
