About the Artwork
Artist Melinda Thorsnes created the brightly colored painting Kodiak by cutting the silhouette from wood using a sabre saw. She notes, "It represents the pride of the sportsman in his quest to return to nature and triumph. Its cut-out format brings the viewer in closer contact with the man himself by deleting other frames of reference."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
