About the Artwork
Artist Sharon Marcus created the abstract tapestry Palisades using the French Gobelin weaving tradition. This style of tapestry features tightly woven structures with textural shading and painterly details.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pioneer School District.

Northwest tapestry artist Sharon Marcus uses her textile installations to investigate form and concept. Her works portray abstracted landscapes, figures and structures.
Marcus earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State College in 1965. She earned a Master of Arts degree from California State University in San Francisco in 1973.
