About the Artwork
Vegetarian Trophy Series: Felted Plumage is a whimsical tapestry created by artist Beatrice Moore. Created in the shape of an animal hide, it is made up of overlapping felted wool pieces. These pieces resemble feathers, organized in stripes of graduated color. This piece comments on the practice of “trophy hunting,” where hunters would display their animal hides to represent the success of the hunt. This piece cleverly turns that idea on its head, creating an animal-friendly version of a trophy.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Office of the Washington State Auditor.
