About the Artwork

Artist Melanie Pryor created this three-panel collage for Lake View Elementary School. She constructed the abstract composition by first layering wooden frames stretched with fishing line. Onto the fishing-line, she then attached geometric cutouts in layers. She notes, "My intention is to suggest what a child might see through a window onto our busy world. There are static architectural shapes that indicate a cityscape or landscape. Moving in and around these shapes are tumbling, twirling squares, triangles and circles… I am partial to geometric shapes because I feel they compose a very basic language that anyone can relate to."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Auburn School District.
