About the Artwork

The Orchard is part of artist Jo Fyfe’s series of three painted sculptures commissioned for Cashmere High School. Each circular piece was constructed from various wooden, metal, and organic materials. The artworks depict significant events in Cashmere’s history. The Orchard depicts stylized fruit trees using different types of wood. This piece celebrates the fruit industry, and its importance to the region.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Cashmere School District.

About the Artist

Born in Omak, Northeastern Washington, non-Native artist Jo Fyfe's artworks are influenced by the heritage of Native American cultures of the interior Pacific Northwest. She earned a Master in Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, and taught art for many years at Spokane Falls Community College. She is based in Spokane, Eastern Washington.
